Born in Banff, Aberdeenshire Rodney has lived in MacDuff, Cumbernauld, Glasgow and currently resides in Clackmannanshire. The Johnstons were from Greenock where his Great Grandfather Samuel Johnston was also a courtesy driver however he was a coachman taking the VIPs to the launch of the ships on the river clyde in his coach and horses. His mother was a Watt from MacDuff, his grandmother a MacDonald in some photographs you will see Torridon and the New MacDonald tartan. The MacDonald side of the family were brought up in 8 Wester Alligin (between Ben Alligin and Upper Loch Torridon) where Rodney's Great Grandfather Donald MacDonald built the croft that still stands today.
Rodney Johnston is a senior supervisor and courtesy car driver. He has worked all over the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1999 and has the experience of working at more than 50 tournaments and events. He was the Outdoor Supervisor at The Open Championship, this included responsibility for all player transportation vehicles as well as the evacuation service.

The Open, USPGA Championship and The Walker Cup
After attending the 1997 Walker Cup and USPGA Championship in New York (Davis Love lll) further visits followed to The US Masters in 2008 (Trevor Immelman) and 2012 (Bubba Watson) where he again observed as a visitor and gained valuable experience when observing The Augusta National evacuation service. Rodney lives in hope that having followed the tournament as a visitor spanning 4 decades he can become a patron with visits on an annual basis.

The US Masters
Rodney Johnston first attended The US Masters in 1989 and was only feet away when Scott Hoch missed a short putt on the first play-off hole, in the gathering gloom Nick Faldo holed a dramatic winning putt on the second play-off hole.
This was followed by a visit the following year where he watched a rare defence of the US Masters by Nick Faldo again on the second play-off hole against Raymond Floyd.
Carolyn Johnston is an accomplished Courtesy Car driver, Member of the Institute of Advanced Drivers and is a Player Liaison Supervisor for Robbie Gethin Associates. Events worked include the London 2012 Olympic Games, The Open Championship, Comic Relief, MacMillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK Race For Life, London and Edinburgh Marathons, Radio 1 Big Weekend, The Ryder Cup 2014 at Gleneagles and The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
